Pygmy shrew is a shrew in north Europe. It is about 30cm in size. They are currently an endangered species in Ireland. They have the life span of about 15 months which is a varly short lifespan. they live underground in nests where they breed and expand species. this means it is quite a small species. the have one of the quickest digestive systems in the world. they have to eat food every 2 hours.

the star nosed mole is a mole from Canada. It is named after its nose which is in the unusual shape of a star. The mole has poor eyesight which means it survives mainly on its sense of smell. The star nose mole is about the size of a human hand in height and width. The mole lives underneath the ground and is a good digger. the star nose mole lives on a diet of worms and insects. the s in that shape for a good reason. there are 22 tentacles on the nose of a star nosed mole It helps to cool down the mole and to help its senses an example of the moles nose is shown underneath.
